Why Should You Exfoliate Your Lips?
This is a necessary step to prep your lips for the application of lipstick. Getting rid of the outer layer provides a more stable and reliable base for your lipstick. You find that they are going to become more long-lasting and they will stay on longer throughout the day as compared to when you apply lipstick over flaky and dry lips. It also eliminates dead skin cells to make way for the rejuvenation of healthier skin cells. This is the secret to the plump and red lips.
For this recipe, you will need the following:
- 1 tbsp organic coconut oil
- 2 tbsp brown sugar in
- 1 tbsp organic honey
- small glass container with a sturdy lid
- mixing bowl and spoon
The first step is to make your base. Take your solid coconut oil and combine one tablespoon of honey. Since coconut oil easily changes according to temperature, you should use it when it is freshly out of your fridge. Mix the two ingredients together in a bowl until you come up with a rich, smooth, and thick consistency. Coconut oil is full of fatty acids and various antioxidants that can nourish your skin. Honey is another great ingredient as it is full of natural healing ingredients.
The next step is to create the lip scrub. Take two firmly-packed tablespoons of brown sugar. Mix this is in the bowl with your base and do so until it is fully integrated into the mixture. You should expect the formation of a paste. You can simply adjust the ratio of the sugar to the base by adding more or less until everything is coated with the shiny and glittering particles of the sugar. If you wish to come up with a gentler lip scrub, you can simply add a tablespoon of body oil to the mix. This will boost the moisturizing element and make your lips feel softer.
Store the finished lip scrub into the jar with the airtight lid. Label it with the date you created it so that you can track how long it has been. Remember that this is made of completely organic ingredients so it doesn’t have any preservatives and it will expire easily. This will last for about two weeks for as long as refrigerated.
